You defeat it by deciding how much you’re willing to lose before you leave for the casino, taking only that much cash, and leaving all of your cards at home. Consider any money you take to the casino lost already, before you even walk through the door. If you can’t do these things, then you have no business in a casino. Obviously people without gambling compulsions don’t need to take these preventative steps, since they’re fine having their cards on them and not withdrawing more money to donate to rich casino owners.
