I’m open to trying plant based alts but I cook 2 weeks worth of food at one time and ultra low effort for the payback. I only eat one cooked meal per day (or equivalent). It is hard to beat the protein and calorie density, not to mention the taste.
I really need to feel inspired to try something, while I have very little margin for extra effort. Cooking is my most physically stressful activity due to disability.
I’m probably an outlier as someone that has had a hunting license and butchered my own kills. I am rather appalled when I see how animals are treated in industrial meat facilities. I think back to the times when I was very conscientious of when and how I took a shot. It absolutely gave me a deep sense of empathy, and solemn responsibility, along with an appreciation for life. It will probably bother some to say, but I think hunting and dressing an animal should be required for anyone to eat meat. I did it to subsidize my poor diet too, in a sanctioned culling due to overpopulation, and have never hunted recreationally. After that experience, I think back to it every time I handle raw meat. There is a certain sacredness to it or something like that; it has meaning.
I’ve long considered trying vegan. I’m already nondairy. I usually do a granola and nuts and dried fruit mix with water like a cereal, or an avacado with pico and salt with some corn tortilla chips. I also usually make a bunch of homemade fried rice. That has egg, fish and oyster sauces that would need to be replaced, a make my own sauces with whatever fermented junk is laying around and primarily my meat stocks. I really would need something that can 1:1 replace the low effort of cooking 6-10 pounds of: a smoked pork shoulder/chicken tenders/chuck roast. I only eat around 6oz per day. All I do is mustard and salt to toss something in the smoker, or slice an onion and place the meat with some dry spices in a glass dish and bake for an hour. If anyone has replacements for that kind of effort and something that can easily keep for 2 weeks of leftovers, post pics when you make it.

I honestly fully get this and think it is way more responsible ethically than any other omnivore diet!
Hope I or something else give you some ideas there :)

huel has savory options that are nutritionally complete and take about as much prep as microwaving a prepped meal
