Replaced the original one a couple years ago after it started making the slightest of noises. New one has been screaming for months, finally decided to have at it again.

    Just had a repair tech replace mine. Hoping it was replaced with a quality part and lasts longer than a couple of years.

      Ours started screaming about a month after we moved in. Repair tech wanted something like $700. I mentioned it to a friend and he was aghast. “It’s a $100 part!” I found a match on Grainger for like $120 and installed it in about a half hour. Five years later, nary a peep.

        That was about how much they wanted to repair it the first time around, too. Guy advised me to get the whole assembly with the mounting bracket and squirrel cage, because while you can get just the motor, trying to replace only the motor is a huge pain.

        Even with this second replacement cost, I’m still $400 in the black.
