    Defend how they’re a tankie

Edit: because I didn’t know I looked it up. Definitely suspect

Genuinely interested in what you found suspicious? Because that’s what we should be doing. Learning from each other.

The most recent example is them being pulled from Nebula, because they called all Israelis colonists in the deprogram and refused to put out a statement calling both Hamas’ and Israel’s actions as harmful (ya know, refusing to denounce the murder of civilians). They called it too close to “both-sidesing” the issue.

Their second most recent video was about how Authoritarian is unfairly a dirty word and all revolutions are Authoritarian in nature. And, ya know, refusing to draw a distinction between the need to establish order after a revolution and ruling over a populace with an iron fist in perpetuity.

        Edit: timely response, I know

Maybe stop worshipping people. We are all fallible and make bad decisions. I’m not defending JT, I thought his choice of words were callous and tactless. By his metrics, most all of humanity are settlers and military targets. But I do understand the sentiment in regards to Israel, which did not exist before 1948. And Israel’s implementation was problematic. But again, artists/creators are just people. Entertain or inform yourself with their art, but don’t idolize them. Regardless, I will still watch his content to learn about socialism and Marxist-Leninism, because it is the only thing that can save us as climate change consumes the planet.

Fair point. I’m not certain how this relates to worshipping people, cause I thought that was used as a way to say that you should be willing to criticize people you look up to, rather than holding them to a firm standard, but I do see your point. His channel is, for sure, informative and useful and just because he has some shitty views doesn’t mean he should be discredited.

Sorry, not necessarily directed at you. It just frustrates me that celebrity culture occupies so much bandwidth in our lives. I don’t care what any of them do? A big reason the world is this way is because we constantly distract ourselves from taking collective responsibility. For example, I’m on Lemmy, when I really should be reading this. Not to say that we shouldn’t have fun.
