If some of the downvoters would care to explain their opinion on why they downvoted this post, that’d be great. I personally don’t care for AI news, but if someone wants to build a c/ around it, I don’t have a problem with that.

If the project is open source, isn’t that giving back the tool to the community?

The exchange isn’t about giving a few hundred lines, it’s about allowing anyone to use the tool.

Do you think we should still harvest fields by hands instead of using tractors? That people should move using carriages pulled by horses rather than trains or cars?

            • Do you think we should still harvest fields by hands instead of using tractors?

That is absolutely not the issue and you know it. How do I know you know it? Because you’re not a moron, which leaves only “disingenuous”.

Your “harvest field by hands” thing isn’t even remotely close to the issue. AI isn’t a tractor making tilling, seeding, harvesting, etc. etc. etc. easier. AI is stealing, say, the wheat from other people’s farms and putting it into your silo and making bread with it.

Not sure if I’m disingenuous, I’m really trying to discuss in good faith.

If we keep the analogy here, what is the wheat? Who was going to summarize those articles anyway? Is this project taking anyone’s income away?

I used the tractor analogy because for me this project is a help to summarize articles, which otherwise has to be done by everyone on their own. But curious to hear what your vision is.

The spread of AI as a valid tool to get proper data/information is a big problem and threat. So I have a problem with something that is actively making things worse, yes.
