Last year, Google TV lost the ability to purchase shows. In recent weeks, we’ve noticed that Google TV is not letting you buy some movies.

Have you not heard of Google’s legendary ability of ditching products? If you were able to buy those movies, how do you think that would go when it closes down?

I’ve spent a huge amount of money on YouTube movies/TV shows. You don’t even have to wait till it closes down!

I moved countries and they took away my TV shows. Then I rebought some and they took those away too claiming it was from the other country. Turns out after I swapped countries, I decided to buy two seasons of Rick and Morty while on vacation (I like watching things on planes). Strange because I didn’t pay a different currency price or nothing. Customer support is so bad. Also, I bought mostly 4K and can’t watch it in 4K because of some browser limitations.

Anyways, my Plex server serves me just fine now.

        I hear you. 😁

Neighbour has a Plex server and I’m building my own storage.

All Google TV rentals/purchases are available concurrently on YouTube. I am sure they will remain there if and when it is shut down and they move their store to YouTube. They moved away from Play Music to YouTube Music, I figure they will want to leverage YouTube’s name and branding to denote their media services and give their video store more recognition and respect. I expect there will be a new “service” separate from the main YouTube system just like their other YouTube apps…

      YouTube Music

      YouTube TV

      YouTube ________ ?
