I had a conversation with a coworker that was really excited when the rabbit r1 (which I think wound up actually running Android under the hood) came out. I think some people just like having little devices/toys. Things like the design and physical buttons make it seem cooler to them.
Every time I see a physical keyboard on a portable device I have this nostalgia for my old Motorola Droid.
Then the lizard brain tags out for monkey brain, and I remember how unpleasant the thing was to type on. The only reason it was cool was because the onscreen was so small that that it was pleasant by comparison.
Y’all know we have these things called smartphones right? And laptops?
Some are even open hardware.
