This is one of my favorite movies ever. When I originally saw it in French with English subtitles I had no idea there was an English version of it. A year after I started dating my forever girl she found it playing at a movie theater nearby and took me to it as a surprise.
I have to say I was incredibly surprised that this movie was in the theater.
Sorry, that was the title of the English release of the film, and it stuck in my head that way. The film’s original title is Gandahar, and the posters had a tag line “Led Années Lumière” (“The Light Years”), and that’s what the American release used as a title.
You probably know it under the original title. If you by chance haven’t seen it, I recommend the French version with English subtitles. While I think the dubbed version of Fantastic Planet is well done, the dubbed Gandahar is substantially different from the original release.

The English voice over is really well done, too! What a great movie.
This and Light Years live in the same little neighborhood in my brain, and I’m extremely fond of both.
I’ve never heard of light years. There are a few movies with that title. Got a link?
