    Love me some good synthwave. This is definitely Gunship at their best (though When You Grow Up Your Heart Dies is still their number one track by far).

        If this is your first exposure to the genre as a whole, I’m happy to make some recommendations.

          What genre would this be? retro wave? It’s like the over-the-top 80s pop I grew up on!

            It’s got a bunch of labels and subgenres, like every genre does, but the overarching term is “synthwave”.

            If you’re digging this sound then I would obviously start with more Gunship. I would suggest the album Dark All Day, but I don’t know Gunship super well, so someone else might have a better recommendation.

            Next up, The Midnight. Listen to the album Kids, in its entirety, from start to finish (no shuffle). If that works for you, hit up Horror Show and then Heroes.

            Whenever you want to move on from The Midnight, you’ll want to listen to Atlas by FM-84 (this album is perfect for a long drive). They’ve also released a few singles that aren’t on any album; Never Stop and Bend & Break are both really worth a listen.

            Further listening;

              very cool, thanks! I was into instrumental synthwave for a bit a few years back, happy to see it get lyrics! Will definitely dive in.
