It’s broken and I understand that’s scary, but we’re past converting people - So stop trying to cling at your false sense of decorum or rules. The known rapist, impeached for inciting a coup against this country and trying to get his vice president killed on TV was just re-elected for his second, non-consecutive term after he got over a million Americans killed in the first term with his dog shit COVID non-response.
Seriously, you’re only holding your position here because the false normalcy of it makes you personally feel like your house isn’t on fire, which it literally is if you’re in LA because climate change is another political chip top bludgeon people to death with. And GUESS WHAT, the same felon being sworn in next week to “lead” this country is going to make you crawl and beg for the disaster relief that the trump voters in North Carolina and Florida just got without condition from the current democratic administration.

Not even close to the effort I’ve put in, and witnessed so many other smarter, more talented and more dedicated people put in, over 20+ years participating in consistent activism against the ills of this world. That includes literally stopping a lucrative job in my prime earning years to work for 2 solid years, without pay, for several non profits leading up to and through the 2020 election. Marching, standing face to face with swat teams, effecting policy and initiating programs that served literally tens of millions of US citizens.
But, there’s a point… When there are no longer rules, no society to see objective fact and reasonably respond, that’s defeat. So yes, it’s decidedly over. And if it wasn’t (it is) the path of a resistance would certainly not be your lazy polite hearts and minds appeal in this global aristocracy we’re left with. Also you’re having this discussion on Lemmy, an unfortunately sized small audience of very similar thought - Folks that were all functionally forced out of Reddit, the true stage at scale for any type of hearts and minds appeal.
The ultimate problem is, the noble goal of the left is basically to make a happy life where everyone’s basic needs are met, by its nature that is a peaceful and passive thing and you are encouraging people to relax and disengage, which should be allowed. But right wing folks are perpetually unhappy, they are perpetual victims of perceived oppression, even when they are “winning”, maybe especially then because they know it’s unearned and so they get immediately suspicious. As demonstrated by right movements though, they don’t know what the fuck they want, it’s chaos illustrated by misdirected anger - cheering for the people that illegally poisoned you for profit as they win the right to poison you even more, without consequence, in the future.
They are just hungrier, insatiable because they don’t have a stomach that can ever be full, they eat and they shit, no nutrients absorbed, no hibernating after getting a belly full of salmon and berries. So when the left naps after victory, they keep working through the night on the never finished hate machine.
