Today’s Owl is a rare Boreal Owl sitting in the sun taking a nap. Well, just a little peek to see what is going on. Normally, they are 8-10 inches high but because this one is hunched down a bit, think it might be 7-8 inches high. A small and cute assassin.
I did a program last year where I got to hold a Screech Owl, and while it was a lot of fun, I thought for a brief moment it felt like a mild ripoff because I couldn’t even feel anything! The leather glove weighed more than the owl! 😆
It was fun though getting to hold him though, and get that really up close look at it. Reading all these things only takes you so far, for things you’re interested in it’s nice to experience them with as many senses as safely possible. Even the part of not actually really feeling anything is still me learning that yes, they really are that frickin’ light! It’s no exaggeration.
