I posted this post on 3D [email protected] and cross-posted it to [email protected], and apparently it made it to neither.

For the lemmy.world community, I’m not really surprised. I simply can’t create any post on any lemmy.world community from SDF. None of my posts ever shows up there for some reason. But I’m more surprised that it doesn’t show up on lemmy.ml: usually I have zero problems with that instance.

So I’m wondering if there’s a problem with federation or if it has something to do with the large number of photos in my post.

Anybody knows?

Our little instance often has federation problems. Sometimes they’re obvious, and sometimes more subtle. Sometimes it eventually catches up, but I suspect not always.

I don’t know what causes the problem, as I have no visibility into the systems. The person (people?) running the instance doesn’t communicate here, so I think you would have better luck investigating by signing up for shell access and asking in the bulletin board there.

For what it’s worth, my recent posts from here to lemmy.world communities seem to be getting through, as they have comments from lemmy.world users. Example 1, Example 2.

I think I finally found the problem with lemmy.world: that instance doesn’t like posts with images hosted on lemmy.sdf.org. Not comments mind you, those are fine. Just posts.

As for lemmy.ml, it won’t accept posts with more than 10 images - although they’re fine on SDF.

      See here.

I do have a sell account and I’ve tried getting help from the bulletin board several times years ago. It was crickets, so I gave up.
