Rednote ads are everywhere rn lol, so it seems like they will take the opportunity to cater to a global audience, at least until the US bans it.

Will be curious to see if Americans take the bait and add another social media company to the national block list, or if they turn a blind eye for fear of inflating Rednote’s reputation intentionally.

You’re thinking to hard about this. I guarantee we aren’t thinking about this at all.

Americans are already stupid enough to jump ship to another data harvesting scam.

People want to be able to communicate quickly and easily. The network effect dictates that large social media ecosystems are the best tools for that purpose. They’re also a target rich environment for harvesters and scammers, for the same reasons.

You make it sound like the data harvesting happened as an after thought to social aspects. They are not an after thought. These mainstream sites, all of them, are designed to siphon your data, deliver marketing/propaganda to their audience and suppress undesirable ideas.

Better sites and services have been shut down the the US government. People are just whiny this time because they’re not getting their dopamine fix.
