Import the appropriate episode into Kdenlive (video editor)
Cut the video down to just the clip that I want
Add the text as a “title clip”
Use a combination of a number of Effects to animate the text
BoxBlur
Crop, Scale and Tilt
Distort
Transform
Export as an MP4 file
Use ffmpeg to convert the MP4 to a looping WEBP
I also occasionally use GIMP to create a particular asset to use in the video (like the stamp in the “request denied” GIF above) or use the infinite loop illusion technique that I outlined in this tutorial: https://feddit.org/post/6015807
