The only thing worse than 2 billionaires leading an unregulated government entity is a single billionaire leading it. Giving Elon completely unchecked power.
It’s not like Vivek was going to even check Elon. It’s funny how he left it before he even started though.

I don’t think it even exists. We all know Elon doesn’t do any actual work beyond tweeting and giving the engineers his latest harebrained idea. Have they started hiring staff? Office space? Anything to prove they exist at all?
Came to say the same thing, it’s not even a real department, trump isn’t president yet. You can’t leave a job that never existed.
On Twitter they were asking people to work there for free.
The man just did a Nazi salute while standing behind a podium with the Presidential seal on it at the Inauguration. All bets are off if you are thinking of government as it existed before this moment.
He has enough money to do what he wants. And there are enough idiots around him that believe his bullshit and applaud.
It’s about to be. That’s going to be one of Trump’s first executive orders apparently. That and declaring an emergency on the border with Mexico and canceling the Green New Deal.
Federal agencies cannot be created by executive order, only acts of Congress.
You still think they give a shit about the law. Amazing.
It’s more about funding and authority than anything else. Musk has to front the money to run the think tank tank and they can’t actually do anything becuase they have no authority to operate. It’s literally going to be a group of people making recommendations that congress would need to pass.

Now what happens? Elon starts introducing himself as the head of DOGE? Congress sets the budgets, so they’re not going to get public funding. They’re not public officials, and they have no authority, so Musk is just going to show up at the department of education and order them all to go home?
No one is going to go after Elon or Trump about it, but if they start printing up their own badges, do you think random people will be immune to the law? Especially after Trump repeatedly showed how he doesn’t hand out those promised pardons most of the time
It’s basically just a think tank at that point, and Trump could act on everything they recommend… But Trump would have to do it. It would probably get in the way of golfing and watching fox while live tweeting
