Summary
A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman’s office in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, citing anger over the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision upholding a TikTok ban.
The suspect admitted to the arson, which caused no injuries as the building was unoccupied.
The ban, upheld due to national security concerns about TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, has sparked significant public reactions.
Grothman had supported legislation to ban TikTok earlier in 2024.
Ah yes, I did mess that up, “shitty video app”, sorry. The conglomerate of Lemmy is all starting to sound the same 🤣. Now, I would still say is a vitriol response to people losing their right to assemble and freedom of speech, along with many people’s form of income. It’s at the very least callous and lacks empathy.
As for the arsonist portion: “jumping to an arsonist’s defense” - You 🥴 Also notice how you mentioned it again, in the next follow up. That’s called rhetoric and your intention is clear. Cool? Cool.
A bubble is where a singular set of viewpoints are dominant and reinforced by the in-group while any outside perspectives are removed or written off with some in-group jargon. I would say this community fits that quite well actually.
Neat. Great response. No notes, you’ve made my point.
