Pope Francis urged incoming United States president Donald Trump on Monday to lead a society with "no room for hatred" and to promote "peace and reconciliation among peoples".
Besides, he’s the Pope. It’s his job to say wishywashy stuff like that.
I can’t agree there. He is supposed to be the vicar of Christ, meaning he should be constantly condemning Trump’s very un-Christian behavior while hiding under the cloak of Christianity.
I will say I’m an atheist who was never a Catholic, so I’m an outsider to this, but come on. It’s a weird as fuck thing to say from the supposed Earthly representative of the guy who said people like Trump were evil people.
The Pope’s role is to make the Church seem loving and accepting and to not ruffle any feathers. Ruffled feathers = potentially lost converts. It has nothing to do with Carholic faith and everything to do with global PR.
