65,000,000 eligible voters don’t vote. Should have fought harder to get those butts off the couch to vote than just “but Trump”. If you don’t excite the base, they’re not going to go out and vote.

Yeah that doesn’t work. Making that argument again and again and not responding to the above critique is why Trump won.

Trump won because millions of people were swayed by propaganda and misinformation.

There was a lot of propaganda going around, but the Dems decided their message was to be in denial about the economy and to court the Republicans who were too sexist to vote for a woman anyway.

The problem is the Democrats told the truth about the economy. They said it was getting better slowly over time and that prices were never going to go back to what they were before Covid. People would rather hear Trump’s comfortable lies than face the uncomfortable truth.

Regular people associate “the economy” with their own subjective bubble. Regular people are dumb as fuck and the Dems shouldn’t pretend like we are a country with free education where people make collected and informed decisions.

Despite the dems prepping the macro economy to distibute wealth to workers, the workers did not feel that wealth.

It was a good economy for transitioning us to EVs, bad for affording human needs.

Then they shouldn’t lie to people and say that the economy is good.

Because the quality of life of their voter base has diminished since Covid.

The economy was getting better if you base “the economy” on stock values. The way politicians, especially neoliberals, measure the health of the economy is fundamentally misaligned with the experience of the average person. That’s on purpose though. They care more about the wealthy than the people.

Or here me out, they saw both sides as moraly reprehensable, not neccisarily equaly so, but enough that they would not be able to sleep at night giving either of them their vote, and tasid suport for what they are doing. As much as people here like to claim your really voting aganst the other guy, the vote is still for one side.

That would be valid if there were more than two choices. There were not. Not voting doesn’t free you from moral culpability; it makes you morally culpable for either outcome. Inaction is acceptance of the worst happening.

It is an action yes. But you presume to ascribe what it means for everyone and thats not how understanding a population of voters ideas works. You are thinking we all live in your head and we just dont.

To some it means, “I wont vote for that level of effing far right wing immorality, especially not from inside whats supposed to be a left leaning party.”

Or to others: “I wont be held hostage by DNC fuckheads so they can get whatever awful outcome they want, since they target the party being just to the left of fascism. They created and control this trolley problem nonsense.”

Or: “I dont like fascism in either party, thanks. Eff both the parties.”

And for people like yourselves it means, "I will do whatever these people tell me, including condoning war crimes and racism, so I can ‘win’ ". Thats just a reflection of who YOU are, @generalemergency. Not everyone else. And the people of your philosophical camp Lost. And maybe lost the country to fascism too. You effing lost, and now you’re here smugly lecturing as if you understand anyone, or even yourself.

It was leaderships job to read the demographics and polling and understand how to get to a win and they arrogantly didnt do that. It wouldnt even have been hard, and a win was very possible. Bidenists fundamentally misunderstood how to lead a coalition, and imperiously and arrogantly thought they could order people to vote for war crimes. Turns out that didnt work. Maybe they should have done their effing jobs instead of sniffing their own thrones.

Can’t both be criticized? I’m mad at people so disconnected they don’t care to vote for a Capitolistic oligarchy over a Fascist oligarchy just like I’m mad at the Capitolistic oligarchy for not being better at understanding/representing the voter base. You call for unity about party reform and then use phrases like, “you people are literally helpless.” It comes across as very hippocritical.

I hate the rules of the game just as much as you, but people who refuse to play the game (or refuse to learn its rules) are hurting everyone by helping Trump.

Not voting doesn’t tell anything to the Democrats. Not voting doesn’t say “You did bad in Palestine” because for years, not voting meant “I can’t be bothered to vote, and I don’t care who wins”.

If you have a specific message to your politicians, you have to contact them directly. Or protest. Or do something to actually get your message to them.

Someone left-wing deciding not to vote objectively helps Trump. That has nothing to do with attacking anyone, it’s an objective fact.

Biden hopefully will be the last “must secure the center” democrat. The winner in American elections is the one that has their base turn out more. If you do things to appease the center at the expense of the base, expect to loose.

Considering there’s no one from any left aligned party holding district wide, state wide or better. This comment is at best delusional.

If us leftists were the panacea many like to paint us as. We’d already be holding more offices than we do. Regardless of the NeOlIBeRaLs!

I think they’d do well to move more leftward. Benefitting the common man. Marginalizing any sort of economic liberal. But a lot is going to have to happen before that. And even then we will still need them more than they need us. Because honestly what’s the left’s excuse otherwise? We could if we wanted to, and oh you wouldn’t know our voters. She lives in Canada?

That’s pretty rich coming from you, yo. How much time and how many posts did you spend dragging Biden and Harris during election season to have a surprised Pikachu reaction? I bet there’s a number with at least 2 zeros you are PERSONALLY responsible for dissuading from going to the ballot box.

Maybe the options arent exciting, but they weren’t both coming to drink your milkshake.

Edit: And by the way FUCK YOU for all of that. I would block you, but I’d rather see you scramble and post about “how do I stop fascism” and so on knowing you have ABSOLUTELY shit the bed for defending your own interests. I don’t wish suffering on anyone, but God dammit I hope your reality has or will get checked. As a cis white straight upper middle class dude none of this affects me at all, and I have spent two years fighting and losing sleep for your shit and what happens to everyone else. I have a lot of sympathy, but not one bit for you.
