I recently put together a keyboard, and it was my first time doing more than just adding switches any keycaps. I followed this diagram, and wasn’t sure if some of these “layers” were interchangeable, or if you are supposed to use all of them (I used all of them).
This is the diagram. I’m mainly curious about the “poron switch foam” which goes directly on the PCB before the “poron plate foam”.
After adding the poron switch foam it feels like some of my keys with stabs are sticking a bit.
I don’t know the board, but from the diagram, I think you should be able to use them all at the same time. The switch and plate foam seem cut to play different roles, with the switch foam being under, not only around, the switches.
But of course you don’t want sticky keys. I’d try to isolate which foam causes that, and then maybe see if you can tell if there is any interference that you can tape down or cut away.
It ended up being the plate foam. I didn’t realize that I needed to take the stabs off first, so it was lying over the wires that connect the stabs and causing some friction. All is well now :) Thank you for the reply.
