Everything these idiots say publicly is bluster. They don’t have the resources for these deportations they are planning. There aren’t enough ice agents in the entire country to clear out the undocumented immigrants in one city. It’s illegal for the military to assist. It’s illegal for them to try to force local PD or sheriff’s to assist.
Edit: There are around 20,000 border and ICE agents. Most of those are assigned to the southwest border. The NYPD has 33,000 officers, Chicago PD has about 14,000, LAPD 9,0000. Even if you somehow got 10,000 of those border and ICE agents in one city without hurting border operations, it would take them years to find and deport all the undocumented immigrants in just one city.
And that is exactly why they’ll be recruiting Red Shirts. Been saying this for years.
Just a month or so ago Steve Bannon said on his podcast that there aren’t enough boots and they would have to draw on “local volunteers” to fill the gaps.
Do what that information as you will. As for me and my house, I’m armed and trained. Scared shitless, but I will shoot back.
You need to understand that none of the people in power actually want this stuff. It’s a waste of tax dollars and undocumented immigrants keep wages low for the robber barons. This is all performative. Think of it like a magic show, they want people looking at the card they are waiving around while the other hand picks our pockets.
I am well aware. But you can see how this turns into an excuse for Red Shirts, Committees of Public Safety and the like?

I don’t have a good feel for the likelihood yet, too early. We may end up with camps, we may just have another four years of slide into shit before the next possible crisis.
I believe there will be at least one camp and at least some people rounded up. Sort of how some pieces of the wall were erected so they could take photos and claim they’ve done something. I also think, like the walls, there will be for-profit companies that will eagerly build infrastructure that (hopefully) never gets used.
On more thought… I would consider upgrading your description of the historical parallels from spooky to fucking terrifying.
I passed through terrifying back when Q started pushing nazi crap and friends, family, and coworkers were parroting it and couldn’t be convinced otherwise. Propaganda is wild and people don’t know much history.
Roll the dice and hope it doesn’t play out that way again. We’re about as ready as we can be, not going to try and fight the power. We’re married white homeowners and very low key.
There was an elderly German couple that lived across the street from us for a little while when I was a kid. I’ll never forget her saying, “We knew, everyone knew. Don’t ever let anyone tell you they didn’t know. But what could we do about it?”
I find myself being obsessed with the thought of day-to-day life under a fascist regime. Like stupid everyday shit. Did people still go out to eat to celebrate birthdays. Did they save money for their kids’ future. Did they buy new cars or sell their houses. Did they wait in line at the DMV. Are new TV shows produced and watched. Do they file taxes. Do firefighters still drive their engines in parades. Do people still take vacations or put in swimming pools. And if so, how in the fuck did they do any of that knowing what was happening. Your elderly neighbors knew. I guess we survived as a democracy just long enough for most of those who knew to be gone.
Yeah, life goes on. What can I do about it without jeopardizing the safety of my people? Nothing, at this point.
We moved to a better state, I’m loving the first real winter of my life.
Getting chickens and probably rabbits in the spring. Time to prune apples, grapes, and blueberries as soon as I get a thaw. About to lift the main beam of my garage so I can repair it in preparation for redoing the roof. We agreed this evening that family movie night is Sundays and family game night is Thursdays. Our son knows to mostly keep his mouth shut at school and he makes straight As. My girl and I have some parties to attend coming up and I’ve got a cigar social on Saturday. Will pick up some work at a local shop this year to save up more money to build my own little machine shop.
Life goes on.
