I’m thinking two years until an executive order reinstating chattel slavery and SCOTUS giving it a pass. Clarence Thomas writes the majority opinion.

Also, fuck this revisionist history bullshit. They were injunctions from purging voter rolls which lead to a ton of citizens being removed while Republicans pretended it was aimed at noncitizens. The Biden administration did not oppose removing noncitizens from voter rolls.

and fighting for injunctions against multiple states from removing noncitizens from the voter rolls.

Fucking hell the disinformation strategy is successful.

That assumes that they would need to. Make enough things illegal and you can legally enslave everyone arrested, especially minorities targeted by law enforcement (oops we’re already doing this). Criminalize existing as a non citizen (and brown), being LGBTQ, being homeless, etc., and you’ve already got the mechanism to remove your undesirables into forced labor camps, what good does it do making it more explicit?

It lets people openly have slaves in their homes again instead of having to coerce them.

I’m sure some entrepreneurial fascist will set up a for-profit system to lease out their slaves prisoners to anyone who can afford it. Just tag the prisoners with explosive gps tags and you don’t even have to worry about them trying to escape. It’d be like a spin on Suicide Squad.

Prisons already do that stuff now.

Well, not the exploding collar part.
