Great Grey Owl looking right thru me. It was scanning the area beneath this tree…and all of a sudden it flew a few feet and grabbed a Vole and took it into the woods to enjoy its meal.

Great Grey Owl looking right thru me. It was scanning the area beneath this tree…and all of a sudden it flew a few feet and grabbed a Vole and took it into the woods to enjoy its meal.
All that misdirectiony stuff is an often overlooked part of camouflage. Even when they can be seen, it’s sometimes hard to pick out what parts are exactly where, which way they are moving, and how fast. Great stuff!
