Damn. I just tried to… mimic (?) what you described, but then realized my eyes went to the right. When I tried again, but this time to the left, it felt so unnatural, but to the right or upwards feels comfortable and natural. Also ADHD, but I never thought that it left vs. right would feel so different for something like that!
Yeah, everyone is different. That’s kinda why it was debunked with later studies (where before they thought looking left meant recall and to the right meant lying). Even with a baseline they’ve shown some people can avoid showing any type of tell when lying or recalling info.
Also, I think visually so it helps me focus and I find direct eye contact uncomfortable in general unless I really know the person well.
