Just one more genocide bro, just one more wave of martyrs, then it’ll really happen for real this time bro, just trust me bro, just a few million more dead poors and minorities and we’ll have a spontaneous workers’ revolution, just one more geno-

I’m aware of this. I’m not saying he had no impact whatsoever, but the vast majority of the work was done before this, and arguably the negotiations could have finished much sooner if Trump hadn’t been so vocally supportive of Bibi’s regime. It’s pretty obvious that Bibi’s strategy was to try to run out the clock on Biden’s administration so he could operate with more impunity under Trump. It’s weird to give him full credit for the ceasefire when his own rhetoric and policies were a major contributor to this situation. At best he fixed a problem of his own creation.

His own creation? How can it be the creation of anyone but Biden? Netanyahu wouldn’t be able to run the clock if Biden had just put his foot down like Trump later did. And in the first place, it was Biden allowing Bibi to operate with impunity; nobody forced him.

but the vast majority of the work was done before this,

The work drafting up the deal was done before this, but it took Trump putting his foot down for it to be done. This is what people mean when they say Trump gave them a ceasefire and they’re not wrong; you could give Biden ten years and he would never say “alright we’re done finish this war up now”.

Again, Trump did as much to enable Bibi’s delay tactics as Biden did–perhaps more, because he gave him an out to hope for with the new administration.

Obviously the solution was for Biden to take a firmer stance in the first place, you’re right about that, but the point is that Trump was actively sabotaging Biden’s weak efforts to pursue a ceasefire by acting as if he’d give Bibi whatever he wanted when he took office.

My own assessment is the deal would have been done sooner if not for Trump. But I’ll grant him he didn’t drag it on any longer than necessary for his own selfish interests.
