Presumably because that’s where OP saw the article?

It’s called news syndication, papers use it to share knowledge that they themselves didn’t discover with others.

And as someone.else has pointed out, this isn’t a scammy website. it’s a large company and has been operating online for 30 years. Just because you only know western sources does not make everything else a scam.

Reuters does apparently offer a content licensing service, so I suppose they could be using that.

I didn’t call it a scam because I hadn’t heard of it, I called it scammy because of the ‘Disable Firefox Strict Mode’ banner. Perhaps scammy was the wrong word, but going to a website I’ve never heard of to be badgered about foregoing my privacy and paying a subscription on content the website didn’t even produce doesn’t inspire trust. Also, just because a company is well established doesn’t mean it can’t be scammy, tabloids here in the UK have recently adopted a ‘Reject & Pay’ cookie policy that is straight up a scam.

I don’t know if this is worst or better than those numerous Wordpress sites that’s just the author writing up their Twitter feed.
