    This time period is colloquially known as the Gilded Age. A time where there was rampant corruption and inequality. The country wasnt rich. Its not too different now, I guess. But wealth was very concentrated to the few. There were barely any labour rights.

    Versus the time after WW2 where america become a global super power. Far wealthier than ever before. after federal income tax was implemented. It was a time where wealth trended to becoming less concentrated.

    Consider what trump wants and look at history in that context. When he says “america was richest” he means his cronies. The wealthy. Not the whole population.

    Removing federal income tax will means even more money for the wealthy and even less support for the working class.
