Top executives are reportedly pushing for the settlement to appease the president in the hopes that his administration might finalize a multibillion-dollar merger.

Summary

Paramount is in settlement talks with Donald Trump over his $10 billion lawsuit against CBS, which he claims deceptively edited a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris before the 2024 election.

Paramount executives, including controlling shareholder Shari Redstone, reportedly support a settlement to avoid jeopardizing their pending merger with Skydance, which requires FCC approval.

The FCC is led by Trump appointee Brendan Carr.

Trump has recently secured multimillion-dollar settlements from ABC News and Meta in similar lawsuits against major media companies.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.
