A restoration of the same tax cuts that "greatly benefited high-income earners and holders of wealth" is how NPR thinks Trump in his second term "can serve what are plausibly called populist causes"? Come on now.

That distinction matters because NPR is not some monolithic liberal mouthpiece, despite what zealots on either side might have you believe. Moreover, his opinion piece seems unique in offering any sliver lining to a Trump presidency. All of the other coverage I’ve heard on NPR about Trump, specifically not Republicans in general, has been resoundingly and consistently negative.
