Sorry that it’s a YT Short; this format seems to work well for Steve, so many of his uploads are Shorts.

I’m guessing you meant to say ‘material’, and yeah. You’re not wrong. Every single clip I’ve ever seen of this dude is heckling material. I remember him releasing an album for free like a decade ago so I downloaded it and listened to it. It was just… mid. His heckling stuff is fine but his actual stand up is severely lacking. He can deal with a heckler, like Jimmy Carr, but he doesn’t have any material to actually perform otherwise. Some of it is just heckler bait while most of it is just tired tropes and angles.

I always hear comedians release their heckling stuff on YouTube cause releasing their actual material spoils their act for them.

The argument isn’t typically that it spoils the act, it’s that other comedians will steal your material. However, the complaint is just moronic. Comedians are always going to steal your material regardless. Just because you don’t upload it online doesn’t mean anything other than you’re limiting your viewer base. That’s the more obvious answer. The less obvious answer?

How are you supposed to argue that a Comedian stole your material if you don’t even have a record of you performing the material first?

Hmmm… Maybe you’re in the comedy scene and hear the arguments. I have just heard it talked about on podcasts and I’ve never heard them say it’s about stealing material. You’re right, that makes no sense.

It does make sense that you don’t want your act spoiled. So if you have some good heckling material to show that you’re funny, share that.
