Summary

The Trump administration is slashing $4 billion annually from medical research funding by capping indirect costs, such as buildings and support staff, at 15% of NIH grants.

Previously, $9 billion of NIH’s $35 billion budget covered overhead expenses. Supporters, including Elon Musk, praise the cuts as reducing waste.

However, researchers warn the policy will cripple lifesaving research, halt clinical trials, and weaken U.S. innovation.

Critics urge NIH to reverse the decision, calling it a threat to public health and scientific progress.

Hopefully since recent events have mirrored Hitler’s rise so well they will also mirror his fall. But faster please faster.

Look at some of the unforced error Trump has pulled. The California water fiasco, where he dumped millions of gallons of water that farmers desperately needed. None of the water did anything to help the wildfires. Complete loss. He fired the board of the Kennedy Center and installed himself as culture czar. In both cases we see that Trump has no one around him who can guide/control his stupidest impulses.

The good news is he’s going to make a lot of stupid mistakes that will force people to hate him. The bad news is that he’s going to make a lot of mistakes that will hurt people.

Agreed, but nobody I talk to even knows about the water release or the Kennedy center. Trump’s guaranteed die hard followers will never hear about his errors, and wouldn’t care if they did. They will never turn on him because that would involve admitting they have been wrong for so many years, in many cases they’ve made it their personality.

And that’s, what, 40% of the vote? The Democrats must run real progressives in the midterms and a real progressive for president in four. If we get to have a legitimate election again.

It may be heresy but I really don’t think the 90 million folks who stayed home are progressives who were waiting for a hard core Socialist. They are waiting for a really cool guy like John Kennedy or a war hero like Eisenhower. It’s sad, but we need a bigger TV star, not a super progressive.

Well I said progressive instead of leftist for a reason. But yeah star power could help. AOC could do it. She’s got nothing to exploit and she can obviously talk circles around whatever the fascists put up.
