America has been a net energy exporter since 2019. The US is the largest current producer of oil in the world and has effectively bottomless coal reserves.
What it doesn’t have is the reserves to maintain oil production for very long (generationally speaking), which is why anyone that isn’t a complete moron would push alternative sources like nuclear, solar, and wind, even if they didn’t believe in global warming!
I don’t get this with any country. Oil is more important as a source for many materials and energy generation is the most wasteful use of it. Every country should be looking to hang on to their reserves till the idiot countries run dry.
