Summary

Britain and France are leading efforts to form a European “reassurance force” of under 30,000 troops to safeguard Ukraine’s air and maritime security postwar.

The force would help reopen Ukraine’s airspace and secure Black Sea trade but would not be deployed near the frontline.

A U.S. security “backstop” is considered essential, though Washington has ruled out sending its own troops. Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron will lobby Donald Trump for support.

Russia opposes any NATO presence in Ukraine, calling it unacceptable. The plan remains in its conceptual stage.

i think everyone in NATO who isn’t the United States is rightfully treating NATO like it’s not worth anything anymore given that the biggest force in it is unlikely to honor the treaties that make up NATO. what’s happening right now is re-alliance similar to what happened just prior to WWI

that ain’t gonna happen. not before russia is kicked out, and not ever with putin’s butt buddy claiming the throne in washington d.c.

the only way ukraine survives at all, i think, is with european ‘boots on the ground’ now to drive out the russians before putin and that dicktator in a diaper get any more ‘plans’ made.
