Something funny is going on at Lemm.ee. The admin is suddently ban hammer happy too.

That and all the mods removed from here is kinds strange.

Anyone have any word on what’s up and why the drastic changes in attitude and all of the sudden bans?

**EDIT: **Actually I think I found the reason: https://lemm.ee/post/55846636/18367529 (!meta@ lemm.ee “It seems some higher level moderation of communities may be required”)

Lemm.ee is a bunch of new admins, so it’s not longer as friendly to differing opinions as it once was.

Which a bunch of Lemmy Democrats are gonna cheer and advertise about.

Probably a good idea for us to find a new conservative community.

Don’t let them silence you, guys. We should just move–not run away. Running away is what they want us to do.

EDIT: I’m not defending Nazi’s or Nazi salutes. I didn’t see the post and I haven’t seen any describe it other than “it was a Nazi salute!” Does anyone want to actually describe the post? What did it say? Was it a meme? Was it Musk? Was it a random pic?

I’m not a conservative but I would love to see people with opinions other than comically far left have somewhere to call home.

I joined world because I didn’t really know what Lemmy was and I was just “trying it out” after I got banned from all of reddit across all my accounts (they never told me why and instantly denied my appeal).

If a more open minded instance pops up or you create it let me know.

.world is definitely not an open-minded one, in my opinion.

In my opinion, the most open minded one so far is sh.itjust.works.

But I will admit I haven’t visited all of the Lemmy’s. Lemm.ee USED to be one of the more openminded ones, but something has changed lately. They def try to shut down disenting voices now. Not sure if they got pressured into it or what happened. But a change started 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I don’t even know how to switch instances tbh.

I’ll look into switching later at some point.

It’s the same process you used to register for your current account. You can’t transfer anything automatically though, but it’s easy enough to set it up again with your subscriptions and blocks.

Well I am def not pressuring you. If you are fine with .world, stay there.

But to switch, you just go to any other community and sign up. So you would click on https://sh.itjust.works/, click sign up, pick your username. Once they verify your email, boom! You’re on a new instance.

And for a summary of all the different instances you can join (think of them like servers, each with it’s own flavor): https://join-lemmy.org/instances

Oh it’s that easy? I figured it was gonna require some one handed cartwheels or spells at a minimum.

I’ll probably do that after work then.

Yep, it’s easy. That’s what’s so great about it. Also since some instances get pretty restrictive or ban happy, many just hope on to another instance that is more welcoming.
