I think being “smart”, combined with an ego, just makes you believe in your own bullshit even harder sometimes. It takes intelligence and humility to arrive at the right solution, and people don’t want to admit they’re wrong. A big part of intelligence is just making connections, and they use it to pick out the dumbest, most unlikely pathes and believe them because they’re “smart”.
