But! I’m lucky enough to have local farmer’s markets out every day near me, and the money to support them. Why would I not consume from the U.S.? I get to see the farms I buy from and meet these people, I have fed peanuts to Praggle’s alpacas and pet their cows. They are local and I have seen that they don’t abuse their animals, so I support them, yes. They treat their animals right and I buy their shit. Getting people to switch is honestly a little complicated. People haven’t switched to Mastodon because the accounts they follow aren’t on Mastodon, but the accounts aren’t on Mastodon because the people who follow them aren’t there.
If you want to help, it might be beneficial to reach out to the accounts you follow and tell them you’d like to see them on Mastodon too.
