Windows is sometimes able to detect it as a storage device, but I’m not able to transfer anything before it disconnects and ‘USB device not recognised’ pops up again. Any ideas what’s wrong?

Wild guess, but just today I had a similar problem with an iPad that wouldn’t connect to Windows resulting in the same error message. Changing the cable worked for me.
Thanks for the tip, but it doesn’t seem like anything changed
