Seems like an arbitrary number compared to the usual standard of 1000/1500/2000 etc, but then it occurred to me that I’ve never actually bothered to count the number of pieces in jigsaw puzzles I’ve completed to confirm the accuracy of their claim, so those rounder numbers might actually just be ballpark figures for all I know.
