I got an ear infection a few weeks ago and after two rounds of antibiotics, it didn’t clear. I was discussing the finer points of antibiotic overuse has really made things challenging and said something along the lines of, “I wonder if any studies have been done on the subject.”
We both paused for a moment because, for a brief moment, we forgot we were in today. We forgot that science and research no longer dictate our policies; conspiracy theories do.
So many people are going to die because of RFK and Trump. Not only that, but research into basic things are going to be rejected or not even done because we have a president that thinks we can just inject ourselves with bleach.
The sad thing is they’ve already achieved their goal of making people fear the government…simply by dismantling scientific research.
I’ve actually taken a course about government policy and antimicrobial usage around the world. It was very interesting. One point that really stuck with me was when a certain drug was banned for human use but still allowed for veterinary use, many people would just go to their vet for the drug. Government policy needs to account for culture.
