March 5 (Reuters) - Jack Daniel’s maker Brown-Forman’s CEO Lawson Whiting said on Wednesday Canadian provinces taking American liquor off store shelves was “worse than a tariff” and a “disproportionate response” to levies imposed by the Trump administration.
Several Canadian provinces have taken U.S. liquor off store shelves as part of retaliatory measures against President Donald Trump’s tariffs.
Canadians are steering away from U.S. goods, sports events and trips following the recent imposition of tariffs, which have left them stirred, despite the deep ties between the two countries.
There absolutely are Americans who get insulted when you make fun of Trump, you can meet them at any Trump rally. I’d also point out, Trump insulted the PM and the entirety of Canada.
OK, excepting the weirdo MAGAs, but I assumed the Canadian equivalent wouldn’t be on Lemmy. Do they even have internet in Alberta?
I’d imagine Alberta has a better grid than Texas. 0 celsius and the entire state goes dark
Probably, I just assume any right-wing weirdo would live there because of the confederate flag pickup trucks.
Funny thing, I just looked this up this morning. Texas is actually 47% Democrat and 38% Republican, but their gerrymandering is controlled by the GOP and drawn to hugely suppress the Dem vote. They are basically the poster child for suppressing the will of the voters.
Texas also gets its reputation from a sort of zealous immigrant effect. People who move to Texas are more likely to embrace a new identity of their perception of Texans. So you get people who moved to Texas 2 years ago and go around in cowboy hats and talking with a ridiculous accent, further reinforcing Texas’s reputation, even though those people are an extremely loud minority.
