I get this! For me it usually sounds like someone stomping on the floor upstairs…but I live on the top floor. Pretty much always falling asleep for a nap, rarely at bedtime.

A funny anecdote: one time it sounded like someone let out a huge fart right next to my head. The big BRRRAAAAPPPP made me laugh so hard, I completely lost my desire to nap

Damn. Are you ok? Good thing that it rarely happens at bedtime, but it sucks that you cannot get a good nap.

Is there a cure for this?

No idea, it’s not a big deal so I’ve never looked into it beyond my doctor saying it’s harmless. It doesn’t hurt or anything it’s just kind of startling. Honestly it’s so minor that the fart story makes up for the 2 decades any inconvenience it caused lol

Have you ever been falling asleep (or dreaming) and felt like you were falling so you instinctively extend your limbs and wake yourself up? It’s like that but it’s a noise. The weird thing is how REAL it sounds. Indistinguishable without context

Also I don’t recall it ever waking me up from sleep (like a falling dream would). Pretty sure it’s always been as I’m drifting off

That’s weird and cool at the same time. It’s like you have a sleep paralysis angel that makes you fart.

As long as you still get a good nights rest then it’s all good. Take care of yourself man.
