Conservative means to keep the status quo. We have only had a few years without defacto apartheid in this country and that is the status quo that they are trying to go back to. These people are absolutely right wing conservatives and please don’t let them fool you into thinking that there is a difference.
Status quo is subjective.
My idea of conservative status quo goes back to the 2000s and early 2010s. What’s been happening since 2014 or so, is a clear slide away from that and it’s something else.
Elected officials saying the quiet part out loud is the only thing that has changed in right wing politics since the 2000s. This has been the status quo since the 80s at least.
