SAVANNAH, Ga. —
A fungus, Candida Auris, is further drawing attention from health care professionals across the nation due to its rapid spread and resistance to treatment. The drug-resistant fungus, first identified in 2016, has doubled its prevalence in the U.S. each year since its discovery.
“We’ve had four people at one time on and off, over the past few months, and in years past, it was unusual to have one or even two people with Candida Auris in our hospital,” said Dr. Timothy Connelly at Memorial Health in Savannah.
Fucking Sod’s law.
I’ve been battling some sort off fungal infection on my skin for a few years because the doctor’s and bureaucracy suck.
I also got it from being abused by the police, given some disgusting bum blanket to wrap myself around in during the illegal isolation shit they pulled on me in jail for days.
I’ve been treating it topically but haven’t been able to get rid of it completely. Luckily I don’t think it’s in my lungs. I did suspect for a while but that luckily passed and was probably throat restriction due to an allergy.
So now I finally managed to wrangle myself antifungals from a buddy I went to the army with who’s a doctor now, and now after not three days I read about a drug-resistant strain. With my luck and Sod’s law, these oral antifungals won’t help either, fuck.
