Yeah, they are rare in the US and usually in cites only. There was a döner place not too far my from work in my old city and I haven’t found a place yet in my new location. The Greek food isn’t as good here either, so gyros haven’t been able to step in as a replacement. First world problem, but I still miss them.
I’ve always wanted to try döner, but they’re impossible to find in the US, at least outside large cities :(

Gyros and shawarma are both types of / related to döner; you might have more luck finding one of them.
I saw a chain for a brief time called “Vertskebap” but it didn’t last long. Maybe because they were also charging $16 a pop.
