Real Sociedad midfielder David Silva is set to retire from football after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) injury.
The 37-year-old, who joined Sociedad in the summer of 2020, sustained the injury in training earlier this week. The injury has led the former Spain international to call time on his 19-year playing career.
Silva started his career at Valencia, where he came through the youth academy and went on to make 168 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals, providing 36 assists, and winning the Spanish Cup in 2008.

Such a hard way to go. Had a high grade partial ACL tear (and some damage to my MCL as well) last year at the same age and I can relate ever so slightly. Feel bad for the guy.
