Ira Glass, the creator and host of 'This American Life,' is coming to Boulder. He’s bringing his show, “Seven Things I’ve Learned” to Chautauqua Auditorium on Saturday, July 29. The public radio legend himself sat down with KUNC host Nikole Robinson Carroll for a chat ahead of the show.
I heard him give a talk in person awhile ago, maybe a decade ago at this point, and while it was entertaining, it was somewhat depressing to listen to. I can’t recall anything specific that he said, but that he’d basically already done every story he’d ever wanted to, there was nothing new or exciting about the job, and that he was pretty convinced we were all going to die from global climate change (or a myriad of other things that are perpetually happening in the world). It was like, “Huh, this doesn’t sound very quirky Mr. American Life.”
That does sound depressing. Hopefully he’s found inspiration since then and feels better about the world.
