An 18-year-old woman who was abducted, assaulted and gang-raped in Imphal East in Manipur on May 15, approached the police on Friday, after which a zero First Information Report (FIR) was registered

FIR says Meira Paibis women’s group handed her over to four armed men; after a brutal assault, gangrape, murder threats, she arrived at Bishnupur police station but did not trust Meitei police to take her home

        That is a question for the Meira Paibis to answer. Meira Paibis are composed of Meitei women. Meitei are an ethnic group and mostly Hindu. Kukis are an ethnic tribe and almost all Christian.

        Since the start of this ethnic & communal violence, Meira Paibis have been encouraging Meitei youth to rape & kill Kuki girls & women.
