Makes me wonder if anyone besides Apple will be shipping a TV app for VR headsets. Seems like a relatively simple thing to do, so why not do it and use it as PR? Does Occulus have any streaming apps?

Why would you want a netflix app for vr headsets? Ive never used a vr headset that I’ve wanted to use for more than 15 mins at a time.

Well according to apple, the refresh rate and pixel density on their headset makes it like watching IMAX in your own home.

Rumor has it they are lining up sports events so it’ll be like you’re actually there (presented in full 3D).

This seems like a weird way to put it. The viewing experience at most sporting events is worse than TV. I have season tickets for my team, and part of why I’m not going to the last game of the season is because I want to have a good viewing experience, which means watching it at home on TV.

True, but even if the refresh rate and pixel density is good, that still doesn’t negate the fact that vr headsets are generally uncomfortable, hot, the lenses get dirty, and you’re going to start feeling that extra weight fairly quickly.

Also, im not sure because I haven’t tried one yet, but I find it hard to believe their claims of “crystal clear displays”. Even if the display is 4k, HDR, and decently colour Accurate, it just doesn’t compare to your actual vision.

Again, can’t confirm as I haven’t used one yet, but they types of lenses used in vr headsets cause distortion and blurriness towards the edge of the display and as far as I know, you can’t avoid this.

Still, I’ll remain optimistic! If they can deal with all of these issues, it’s going to be a really awesome headset!

So, I hated them, then I tried using them to watch youtube in bed and they’re incredible.

The problem is moving your head makes you seasick because the timing is wrong, but if you’re lying down it’s phenomenal.
