At one of America’s largest bases I was instructed not to stop for gas withing 2 miles of base due to crime, there is practically no positive economic impact of a military base on a local scale. Most of them don’t make enough money to do anything than fuck the local housing market. And that part does spread out because even they don’t want to live close to base.
This even creates a generational effect where low local taxes cuts services like education and police.
