I’ll go first: I think “Sherlock Holmes: A game of Shadows” was awesome, from the plot to the characters ,and especially how they used screen-play to highlight how Sherlocks head works in these absurd ways.
This kind of thing is the key. You have to figure out what part you actually care about. Audience ratings are generally more focused on the fun factor, and critical scores are generally more focused on more technical aspects, like shot composition.
I want to enjoy myself. If that involves a really hard to pull off camera thingy then cool, if not that is also cool.
12 angry men is one of my favorite movies and it is pretty clear they were going for special effects.
