I disagree I think the Republicans are the modern embodiment of the real American Spirit.
Founded on genocide and chattel slavery, grown with more genocide and wars of expansion. White hegemony enforced through laws and lynchings. Redlining, supreme Court approved internment camps, so many wars on poor countries filled with brown people that have done literally nothing to us.
Any progress you feel is a modern affect and not actually reaching the core of who we are as a people…
I practically have no choice but to live here considering that my entire family lives here, and how difficult it is to relocate your entire life to another country, how difficult it is to get citizenship, and adjusting to a new culture and possibly language.
America is meant to be for the people, even though we’ve never succeeded in doing that in our history. My identity isn’t american, but my home is. That’s why I want this place to be better. But our entire culture is built off a foundation of greed and that would be extremely difficult to un-do.

Then maybe we need to redefine it.
Or maybe we can stop tying our identity to our place of birth.
